Stress is a normal part of life. For us humans, it’s a survival tool built into our brains, like an old alarm system designed to protect us from sabre-tooth tigers. But in today’s world, our alarms can go off for reasons that aren’t quite as life-threatening. Emails, traffic, and deadlines can trigger the same fight-or-flight response as a prehistoric predator.
Instead of facing a real threat, our brains often mistake everyday challenges for life-or-death situations. This triggers the same fight-or-flight response, flooding our bodies with stress hormones. Over time, this constant state of alert can wear us down and lead to anxiety.
