Today, we’re going to focus on two specific parts of the brain…

In some ways, this part is who you truly are as a person.

Your ancient survival system.

You might know it as fight-or-flight, survival mode, or stress response.

This part is designed to keep you safe.

But not necessarily happy.

The primitive brain is fearful, jittery, hypervigilant and obsessive. It’s never too far away from pressing that “panic button.”

It’s also overwhelmingly negative, seeing everything from the worst possible perspective.

It can’t tell the difference between real danger and modern challenges.

To your primitive brain, that email might as well be a polar bear out to get you.

And when it thinks you’re in danger, it takes over control.
