Hypnotherapy to find freedom from OCD
Break the loop & embrace life again.
Living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) can be exhausting.
😵💫🌀💤
OCD isn’t just about being “neat” or “organised”.
It’s often a deeply distressing experience. An internal battle between knowing your fears are exaggerated yet feeling powerless to stop them. The mind races, tension builds, and it can feel like you’re just living to seek relief from the inner chatter.
If that sounds familiar, please know you’re not alone. OCD is a well-understood condition, and there are gentle, effective ways to help your brain find calm again.
Hi 👋 I’m Frances.
I’m a Clinical Hypnotherapist based in Brighton & Hove. Want to know how I can help you relieve OCD?
Let’s chat.
Do these sound a little too familiar?
“I can’t stop my thoughts, no matter how hard I try.”
“I’m afraid of what my mind might make me do.”
“I feel trapped in endless checking or counting.”
“My worries control me, not the other way around.”
“I can’t trust my own mind.”
“Even small tasks feel overwhelming.”
“I’m exhausted from trying to keep my anxiety in check.”
“I feel guilty or ashamed about thoughts I can’t control.”
You’re not alone.
About 1 in 40 adults will experience OCD at some point in their lives. And that number doesn’t include the many more who suffer in silence.
The neuroscience of OCD
It’s not “just in your head”. It’s in your brain’s wiring.
OCD happens when the brain’s alarm system gets stuck in the “on” position, sending out danger signals even when there’s no real threat.
To feel safe, the mind latches onto certain thoughts or behaviours in an attempt to regain control. Things like checking, cleaning, counting, or trying to neutralise unwanted thoughts. These actions bring a temporary relief… but the calm never lasts for long. In fact, the more the brain repeats this loop, the stronger its hold can become.
It’s not a conscious choice, it’s simply the brain trying to protect you.
The good news is that the brain is also highly adaptable. It can change and rewire itself through a process called neuroplasticity. This means that, with the right support, new patterns of calm, rational thinking can form, and that overactive “OCD circuit” can quiet down.
Over time, it’s possible to feel more at ease in your own mind. And more at home in your own life 🏠 ♥️
How hypnotherapy can help you overcome OCD
Quieten your mind
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps calm the brain’s alarm system, the part that keeps sending those “what if?” signals. Through relaxation and positive focus, you can turn down that inner noise and create space for calm thinking to return.
Build awareness & control
In sessions, you’ll strengthen your ability to notice thoughts without getting pulled into them. We’ll focus on building confidence, trust in yourself, and a sense of control over your responses. As your brain learns new, more balanced ways to process uncertainty, it can let go of compulsive patterns.
Find freedom from the cycle
Hypnotherapy helps you move beyond those OCD thought loops by retraining the subconscious mind. As anxiety eases and calm becomes your new default, those old triggers lose their power. You’ll rediscover clarity, peace, and the freedom to live life on your own terms.
